Meet two Brothers Behind Ksh12 Billion Village Market

Village Market has built a reputation as a one-stop recreation and entertainment destination with a wide
range of attractions guaranteed to keep guests entertained.

Surprisingly to many, what was once a coffee farm has transformed into one of Nairobi’s most
prominent high-end shopping destinations.

Two brothers designed the structure after deciding to develop an ‘African Village’ on a
seven-acre plot of land.

Hamed Ehsani and his brother, Mehraz, took a risk and invested Ksh90 million in the
project in order to change the lonely piece of land that was once covered in
coffee bushes.

Mehraz, a well-known architect, designed the concept, which drew in top and niche
businessmen to open stores in the shopping center.

“My brothers and I were driving about when we came across this location and decided
to set up a few businesses and establish a shopping center that embodies the
image of an African village, a market that draws people together and provides a
space for social interactions.

“We purchased a seven-acre plot of land that was densely covered in coffee plants.
“It was designed by my older brother, and three years later, we had 60
stores,” Hamed recently told Nation.

Currently, the facility includes nine waterslides, a 12-lane bowling alley, a cinema hall,
and 150 outlets with a variety of
amenities and facilities.

Hamed,
the managing director of Greenhills Investments Limited, graduated from the
University of San Francisco with a bachelor’s degree in international business.
He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Iran’s Center
for Management Studies.

His brother, on the other hand, is a British-trained engineer who worked as an
architect at the University of Nairobi before pursuing a career in real estate

He is credited with designing the five-star Tribe Hotel as well as House Number 12
Magnolia Hills in Kitisuru, which is likely Kenya’s most costly private
residence at Ksh600 million.

With Hamed’s son, Hooman Ehsani, creating the Ksh3 billion Palm Valley estate in
Nairobi, their family has left their mark on Kenya’s most iconic landmarks. The
complex, which sits on a 20-acre plot of land, has 88 luxurious residences.
Century City Property Limited’s Chief Executive Officer is Hooman.
